Overview

A Level Politics is one of the most dynamic and engaging subjects scholars can choose, encouraging them to explore how power is exercised and challenged in the modern world.

Through the study of UK and US politics, as well as political ideologies, students develop the ability to think critically about contemporary issues shaping Britain, the USA and the wider world. In a rapidly changing political landscape, scholars will analyse events such as Brexit, the global conflicts and shifting political leadership, gaining the skills needed to understand and evaluate real-world political change.

A Level Politics equips scholars with excellent analytical, evaluative and communication skills that are highly valued in both higher education and employment. It is a versatile qualification that supports progression to a wide range of degree courses, particularly in the arts and humanities, including politics, law, history, international relations and economics. Above all, the subject fosters confident, independent thinkers who can engage thoughtfully with political debate and current affairs.

For scholars with curiosity about the world around them and an interest in how decisions are made, A Level Politics offers a challenging and rewarding pathway, perhaps even inspiring the next generation of political leaders.
