Mercia Collegiate Sixth Form helps scholars exceed their potential and be the very best version of themselves. Our provision provides scholars with the knowledge, skills and mindset that will make a place at an elite university a real possibility.
Our elite university preparation begins the moment pupils start with us. We do not wait until Year 13 to initiate our university preparation programme. Readying pupils for the challenges of elite university applications is a key priority throughout their time here from the moment they join us.
With the help of our bespoke mastery curriculum, the expertise shared in our professional schools and our programme of admission preparation, we are confident that all Mercia Collegiate Sixth Form scholars have competitive applications and will therefore receive offers to continue their studies at Russell Group universities after A Level.
Whilst we focus on Oxbridge and Russell Group universities, our elite university preparation is not confined to the elite institutions on these shores alone.
Throughout their time at Mercia School, pupils are encouraged to explore a wide range of future pathways, including the opportunity to study abroad. We aspire for some pupils who progress to Mercia Collegiate Sixth Form to consider applying to highly selective universities, including the Ivy League in the United States.
By learning closely from the most successful sixth forms in the country, we are confident in our capacity and expertise to provide strong, tailored preparation for applications to these prestigious institutions, alongside ambitious routes within the UK and beyond.

Elite performance
Mercia Collegiate Sixth Form has a thriving community of elite performers who compete in a range of sports at a high level.
Examples include:
- Alfie – Road cycling at an international level, competing for Great Britain
- Amelie – Netball at an international level, playing for France
- Ophelia – Basketball at an international level, playing for Great Britain
At Mercia Collegiate Sixth Form we welcome and support applications from elite performers. We provide support such as allowing attendance to training and fixtures and use of the school gym.
Early applications support
Our sixth form attracts a large number of applications from scholars who will want to submit an early application for Oxbridge and medical courses. We are experienced and well placed to support these applications for the most competitive courses, supporting scholars to make high quality applications:
- Strong networks with Magdalen College, Oxford, and Emmanuel College, Cambridge. The majority of scholars will visit an Oxbridge college on a school trip in Year 12.
- Personal statement guidance and interview preparation from the MCSF Professional Tutor team, as well as mock interviews with Oxbridge graduates, medicine admissions experts, and Oxbridge admissions tutors.
- Application support from The Elephant Group.
- Support with registering for and completing super-curricular activities to ensure a strong personal statement.
