School day & support

Mercia Collegiate Sixth Form has an extended school day, with scholars expected to arrive by 8:20am and lessons finishing at 5pm (3:45pm on Fridays). This allows us scholars to partake in high quality super-curricular activities and subject support within the school day.

There are six periods in the school day, and five on a Friday, with Period 6 being used for super-curricular activities, enrichments, tuition, and sport. Scholars have five hours of lessons per subject, with the remaining periods being used for independent study, collaborative study, or other activities.

Scholars receive excellent pastoral support from their professional tutors, who lead our professional schools. There is one hour per day of professional school time, allowing scholars to receive guidance on both academic and pastoral matters.

By completing the full school day on our premises, scholars are emersed in the academic nature of A Level studies and are able to access the support of our expert teachers throughout the school day.

16-19 Bursary

The 16-19 Bursary Funds are paid by the Education & Schools Funding Agency (ESFA) to schools and colleges so that they may provide financial help to students whose access to, or completion of, education might be inhibited by limited financial resources. If you think you are eligible for a 16-19 Bursary, please make an application.

The Bursary 16+ application form can be accessed via our online portal.

Existing Year 12 scholars who wish to apply need to use the same Applicaa login details as those used to apply to and enrol with Mercia Collegiate Sixth Form.

Please fill out the form in detail, ensuring all sections are completed accurately. Do not forget to provide the necessary supporting evidence, such as proof of household income, benefit statements, or any other relevant financial documentation. This is essential to help determine allocation.

Applications for The Bursary 16+ open at the start of the academic year and close in October.

Uniform

We are a sixth form with a uniform. Find out more about what is expected here.

We take pride in our school and our scholars, and we think it is important that is reflected in how our scholars look as they go about their studies. Our uniform is aimed at giving scholars a professional and purposeful outlook, reducing bullying by removing expensive branded items, and giving a sense of community and belonging. All scholars must wear clean, crisp uniform every day. Parents will be contacted if this is not the case.
